Mission Appeal of the Rogationists for Mindanao, Philippines May 20-21, 2017 Parish: Sacred Heart, Waco, TX I am Fr. Edwin Manio, a religious priest that belongs to the Congregation of the Rogationist of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ). At present, I am a Parochial Vicar in St. Mary’s Church in Sanger, CA under the Diocese of Fresno. I am coming for the Mission Appeal for our Rogationist Mission in Mindanao, Philippines in particular for our orphanage called St. Anthony’s Boys Village-Davao ( Mindanao, Philippines) Davao is the second Anthonian Orphanage of the Rogationists in the Philippines located on Baracatan, Toril Davao City. On January 18, 1998, feast of Sto Niño, the Rogationists were in jubilation as the first two Rogationist priests, Frs. Silvestre Robiñol and Marcelino Diaz II set off to start the Rogationist presence in Mindanao. With the Divine Providence, through the "Rogationist Mission Day," funds were gathered to start the construction of the first house in Baracatan that sheltered the religious community and the first group of boys whom they are taking care of. The SABV – Davao gives priority to poor and indigent boys who have good will to upgrade themselves through education, vocational training, work and discipline. The Village caters annually to indigent boys with an average of 50 high school students (13 – 17 years old) and 10 college students (16 – 21 years old) as full time borders. The SABV Foundation is providing the tuition and boarding fees through generous friends and benefactors who under Adoption at Distance Program are sharing the same Rogationist ideals. The families of the beneficiaries are contributing according to their possibilities. At present, SABV is under the supervision of Fr. Ronaldo Masilang as the Superior and Rector. He is helped by 3 priests, and 3 religious brothers. At present, they have 50 High School boys and 8 college orphans and poor boys and young men in the SABV. Let us share more of our blessings so that many more indigent but intelligent boys and young men will eventually finished their high school and college education and be able to help many families that can eventually find better opportunities and jobs that can sustain them and live a better Christian lives with dignity. These educated young men will become the new workers in the vineyard of the Lord who can transform and lead the world to Christ.
